Limitless Dojo Student Showcase March 26, 2021

Mikey, Canaan, and I headed to Brewer for a night of the rasslins at Ronco's for the second Limitless Dojo Student Showcase!

We had dinner at Chick-Fil-A, because it's awesome!  We then hit up Wal-Mart and Target so Mikey could look for figures to add to his collection and he picked up a couple.
There was a bigger crowd at this show because state covid regulations changed allowing for greater inside capacity.

We were treated to eight matches and a show that ran just over two hours including the intermission.
Let's get to the matches!

Aiden Aggro pinned "Dweller of the Depths" Dylan Nix

Great opening match with Aggro and Nix both looking good in the ring, Aggro got the pin reversing the taz-mission into a pin

"Belfast Bulldog" Dave Dyer pinned Frank Jaeger

Jaeger had Dyer in an ankle lock submission and Dyer straight up kicked Jaeger in the dick to break the hold and then got the pin with the bulldog powerslam

BA Tatum pinned Kirby Wackerman

This match had a lot of comedy which I have never seen in a Tatum match.  He pinned Wackerman after a rock bottom

Triple Threat: Ace Romero defeated "Iron" Rip Byson & "The Prize" Alec Price

This match was advertised as a one on one match between Byson and Price, Randy Carver added Ace to the match much to the delight of the crowd.  Honestly it was a big pop when Ace's music hit.  There was a lot of fighting on the floor and Rip hit Price with a wicked Doctor Bomb.  Rip got his arm tied up in the ropes allowing Ace to hit Price with a package piledriver for the pin.

"Girl On Fire" Jessie Nolan pinned Big Juicy

This was Big Juicy's Maine debut and I thought she looked good in the match.  Nolan got the pin with an axe kick that didn't look great.

Eric Johnson pinned Konnor Hex with a sidewalk slam

Alexander Lee submitted "Big Cat" Tyler Addams

This was Big Cat's pro debut and he had a lot of family there cheering him on.  I was, actually, very impressed with Big Cat considering this was his first match.  Lee dominated the match and guided Big Cat along the way.  Cat submitted to Lee's arm lock.

"Main Attraction" Mac Daniels pinned DangerKid
Very, very good match up! Daniels hit a superb shoulder breaker at one point that popped me.  Yes I enjoy when the something is rarely used and when used done very well.  Mac got the pin with a roll up and a handful of tights.

After the match Aggro came out and they challenged Mac to a tag match at the next show, if he could find a partner.

The WWF Invades the Omni

Back in the 1980's when the then WWF broke the territory rules and started expanding they went right to the strong holds of all their opposition.  It began in December 1983 when the WWF took over the high rated Wrestling At the Chase program from the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.  Sam Mushnick's St. Louis Wrestling Club had been the heart of the NWA: National Wrestling Alliance, running the Chase Hotel from 1959 until the McMahon takeover.

Known as Black Saturday to wrestling fans, on July 14, 1984 Vince McMahon and the WWF took over Georgia Championship Wrestling and the much beloved TBS World Championship Wrestling program.

However to many the WWF's real blow in the soul of the Southern Wrestling traditionalist was when the WWF promoted a show at the Omni in Atlanta.  If you ask Arn Anderson to him the greatest wrestling venue in the world was not Madison Square Garden in New York City, but the Omni in Atlanta, Georgia.  That is where he grew up watching wrestling and that's where all the biggest matches took place.

On August 25, 1984 in front of over 9,000 fans the WWF made their debut at the venue just four days after an NWA card was held at the arena.  The main event that night featured WWF World Champion: Hulk Hogan defeated "Dr. D" David Schultz.

Also on the card Andre The Giant won a battle royal, Big John Studd defeated Tiger Chung Lee, The Junk Yard Dog beat George 'The Animal" Steele, Nikolai Volkoff pinned Rocky Johnson, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff bested SD Jones, Les Thornton and Bob Orton Jr. fought to a draw, Andre The Giant pinned the Spoiler, The Iron Sheik beat Sgt. Slaughter by Disqualification and Women's Champion: Wendi Richter retained against The Fabulous Moolah.

The WWF would return in October and November and even ran the venue on Christmas Night.  They ran regularly in the first half of 1985 but didn't return to the venue for 2.5 years until October 1987.  The venue remained an NWA strong hold with Jim Crockett promotions and later World Championship Wrestling.  The venue hosted such super cards as The Last Battle of Atlanta, Starrcade 1985 & Starrcade 1986, the Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling Superstars on the Superstation, Great American Bash tour stops, WCW Television tapings, Starrcade 1989, Starrcade 1992, Slamboree 1993 and WCW Monday Nitro.

WWF ran their last show in 1992 and WCW ran the last wrestling event in the venue, a Monday Nitro on March 3, 1997.   The building was torn down and replaced by what is now called the State Farm Arena.  WCW ran Nitro here, WWE would running many PPV events at the State Farm Arena including Backlash 2007 and Royal Rumble 2010.  The NWA held their 60th Anniversary event at the arena on June 6, 2008 which was main evented by The Rock n' Roll Express defeating the Midnight Express.

The most recent wrestling event at the venue was on February 19, 2020 when AEW: All Elite Wrestling held Dynamite with Cody Rhodes defeated Wardlow in AEW's first Steel Cage match.

Signed Trading Card: Limitless Wrestling

On Friday February 26th I attended the Limitless Dojo Student Showcase and I managed to get 10 cards from the Limitless Wrestling Series 3 card set signed.  The rule is, if they make a card and you can get it signed, you get it signed.  You can read my report of the show here.

These first three consists of Maine Street Posse members past and current.  I didn't get the complete set of Series 3 and was only able to buy a few packs, which is why I don't have a solo signed DangerKid card.

From left to right you are looking at Aiden Aggro, MSP: Aggro and Kid, and the "Beautiful Bald Bastard of Bangor" Alexander Lee.

The next three consist of Impact Wrestling's Acey Baby Ace Romero and the first trading cards of senior referee Eric Greenleaf and The Prize City OG Alec Price!

This final set of four are all listed as Rookie cards for Dojo Students "Belfast Bulldog" Dave Dyer, "Main Attraction" Mac Daniels, "Dweller of the Depths" Dylan Nix and Jacob Drifter.

You can order these cards on the Limitless Wrestling website when they are in stock, they tend to sell out very fast.
