Signed Trading Cards: Davey Boy Smith Jr., Ethan Page, Skylar, & More

This week we take a look at the cards that I got signed at Limitless Wrestling: Hooked on a Friedman May 10, 2017.  I had a Shazza Mackenzie card as well that I was hoping to get signed but she never came out and sold merchandise.  She walked through floor a couple times before the show but I figured she be out at intermission, she wasn't.

In total I added 16 new signed cards to the my collection.  I'm currently working on reorganizing the way I store my cards and the order that I store them in.  If you collect cards please tell me how your store and organize your cards.

"British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith Jr.

Bulldog was super nice to chat with, we talked about how in Japan he sometimes where the jeans with boots and the next night more typical wrestling gear.  He said the jeans was in the same style that his dad wrestled in, in his last WWF run but they are not at all comfortable to wrestle in.

The first card is a 2008 Topps Slam Attax card game, the second featuring Christian getting the ole high vertical suplex is from the 2010 Topps WWE set, above that is from the same set and features the Undisputed Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty.  I'd love to get Tyson Kidd & Natalya to sign it as well.  Finally we have the 2015 King of Pro Wrestling card from Japan.

Ethan Page

It was nice seeing Page back in Limitless at this show.  These are both independent cards, the first being from the the 2018 Limitless Wrestling set and the second as part of the 2019 Joey Ryan Spring Break 3 part Two set.

Mance Warner

This is the only card that I bought at the show, all the others I already owned.  This card is from the 2019 Highspots card set that they send out in their monthly subscription box.  I paid $5 for the card.

JT Dunn

I finally was able to get the three cards signed by Dunn!  For the last several shows he hasn't come out to sell merch.  All three are from Limitless Wrestling, the first from the 2018 regular set and the second two from the 2018 Moments sub set.  The middle card features Dunn's match with Cody Rhodes at Unreal on January 27, 2018 and the second is after winning the 2018 Vacationland Cup.

I have on other card signed by Dunn that you can see here.

Skylar

This card is from the 2018 Limitless Wrestling set.  This was Skylar's first Limitless show that I have seen her at since November 2017.

Ace Romero

Both cards are from Limitless Wrestling, the first from the 2018 set and the second from the 2018 Moments subset.  This card is from  Hook, Line, & Sinker July 23, 2016.

Allie Kat

Kat was turned the card over to correct her hometown to Texas and I thought that that was all she was going to do when she signed the back.  I wasn't about to ask her to sign the front. The first card is from the 2018 Limitless Wrestling set and the second as part of the 2019 Joey Ryan Spring Break 3 part Two set.

Lisa Marie Varon

Also known as Victoria and Tara.  This card is from the Tristar 2010 TNA New Era set.  She was going by Tara in TNA and I asked her to sign the card as Tara, but I guess she didn't hear me.  Lisa Marie was very nice and courteous and is on her retirement tour after 19 years in the ring.

Limitless Wrestling Report March 9, 2019

Saturday March 9th Limitless Wrestling returned to the Westbrook Armory for "Welcome to the Dance" featuring the crowning of the inaugural Limitless Wrestling champion!

Alex rode down with me and we recorded for the podcast on the way down and back, that episode is posted now so go have a listen.  On the Road to Limitless Wrestling with Alex.  We met Mikey at Angelone's West in Westbrook before the show for some of the best pizza in Maine.  This is the last open location as the Portland one recently closed.  I wrote a blog about it a couple years back, I really love the pizza here.  Pizza By Angelone.

Doors opened promptly at 6:30pm for the VIP's which I was one because originally The Hurricane, Shane Helms was advertised but three days before the show the WWE pulled him, I had a couple cards that I wanted signed by Helms.  They made Dreamer the VIP, which I was cool with because I still didn't have a photo with Tommy Dreamer and I had him sign his other ECW trading card that I had.  These cards were released back with the ECW figures that the Original San Francisco Toymakers released.  They had two different Dreamer cards, I have the other one signed.

To say that this was a packed house is an understatement, I've never seen so many people crammed in this building.  The even removed the gimmick tables from the back and side of the venue for standing room, and it was a raucous crowd!  I'm so happy to be have a promotion in Maine that others from around the country look at and wish they had close to them like I used.

Other than my photo with Tommy Dreamer I also got one with Andy Williams & Pepper Parks: The Butcher and the Blade, and Brandon Kirk.  I also got a few cards signed and you'll see what in another post.

Let's get to the matches:

Pre-Show

DL Hurst pinned "Smart" Mark Sterling

Sterling came to the ring with a referee demanding an opponent.  DL Hurst came out and got a big ovation for his return after being out so long with a leg injury.  It was good match, Hurst seemed to moving well.  He got the pin with a moonsault into a pin on a standing Sterling.

Main Card:

Teddy Hart pinned Darby Allin

DAMN!  This was tremendous and lived up the the hype I built up in my mind.  Both of these guys are so good and both displayed there unique offense.  Allin took a beating this match but battled back several times, but in the end Teddy got the pin after on of is signature moves, a splash mountain into a sitout powerbomb but Darby did a full flip before landing.  Crazy!

MSP: Alexander Lee, Danger Kid, & Aiden Aggro defeated the Shook Crew: Bobby Orlando, Bryce Donovan, & Max Casterwhen Aggro pinned Orlando

My first time seeing the Shook Crew and these guys were great. Another solid and entertaining match by MSP continuing their winning streak. I can't wait to see what trio they bring in to face MSP next.

Kris Statlander pinned Christian Casanova

Casanova came out and cut a promo about Helms being afraid of him and how Stokley isn't here tonight because of his making fun his clothes.  Statlander then came out to accept Casanova's challenge to a good ovation.

This was a great match, Casanova is very good and Statlander has been killing it for months now where ever she is.  It was good back and forth match and Kris got the pin after spiking Casanova on his neck and shoulders.  Look pretty vicious from my vantage point.

Platinum Hunnies: Angel & Ava Everette pinned Bret Domino

This was a fun match, some great comedy by Domino especially after a stink face from Angel.  Bunnies got the pin after some good double teaming.  Post match Domino attacked them throwing Angel to the floor and before he could do anything to Ava DL Hurst ran in with a crutch chasing Domino out.

Hurst then turned on Ava and wrecked her with a crutch shot to the back, looked very painful.  He then cut a promo on the fans for forgetting about him and Anthony Greene.  Greene chased the reunited Hurst and Domino off.  I'm looking forward to Hurst vs. Greene in the future!

ECW Rules Match: "Dirty Daddy" Chris Dickinson pinned Tommy Dreamer

Match started out with some wrestling and respect being shown.  Then Dickinson kept goading Dreamer and calling him an old man.  The battled on the floor and all around the ring.  Dreamer got his hands on some spring time Oreo's and smashed them in Dickinson's face.  During another moment they exploded all over the ring and the guys wrestled on Oreo crumbs for the remainder of the match.

Dreamer brought a trash can out with a chair and kendo stick.  He wrecked Dickinson with can busting him open and then went to town on him with the kendo stick.  A table was set up in the corner of the ring.  Dreamer ate a drop-toe hold on the backrest of a chair, ugh, don't know why he still does that, looks wicked!

Eventually Dickinson ending up putting Dreamer through the table and getting the pin on the Hardcore Icon.  Post match Dickinson cut a promo celebrating Dreamer and wrestling.  Dreamer then praised Dickinson and us the wrestling fans.

On a side note I have been a fan of Tommy Dreamer for over 20 years back to those ECW days, wrestling I watched live thanks to my buddy Jay's satellite dish.  Seeing  Dreamer come out to Man in the Box I got all emtional, I just can't help it sometimes.

Scramble Match: Brad Hollister defeated Josh Brigs, "Buzzkill" Pat Buck, Antoine Nicholas, Jake Something, and Donovan Danhausen pinning Antoine Nicholas

Killer match nice seeing some new guys like Something, Pat Buck, and Danhausen.  I'd like to see Danhausen back in a singles match up.  Antoine took a horrific beating from literally everyone in the match.  I felt bad for the guy.

Something and Briggs squared off a few times and that's one match that I do want to see live in a Limitless ring.

Ashley Vox submitted Brandon Kirk

I really liked this match and Vox took a wicked beating through out, in the end though she prevailed getting another big win.  At one point Kirk attempted to drive skewers into Vox's head but she reversed it on Kirk.

Thick Boys: Puf & Jay Freddie defeated The Butcher & The Blade: Andy Williams & Pepper Parks when Parks was pinned

It was great seeing Williams and Parks live, my first time for the both.  Williams looks like a jacked up Dr. Mindbender, not sure if it is intentional but it is awesome!  Once again the Thick Boys had an illegal double pin on Parks.

Limitless Wrestling Championship: MJF defeated "Retro" Anthony Greene, JT Dunn, & Ace Romero pinning Anthony Greene to win the championship

Damn great match!  These four guys didn't showed why the deserved to be in the main event fighting for this title.  For the beginning of the match it was primarily The Kings staying together, until Dunn hit Death by Elbow and MJF threw Dunn to the floor to steal the pin.

The match went to the floor and around the ring.  They went through the crowd to the lockers, this time Greene and Dunn climbed on top, with Greene falling off and then Dunn jumping on everyone.

Back in the ring the finish came when Dunn hit everyone with Death by Elbow, the last being MJF which caused Dunn to fall out of the ring and MJF to fall back on top of Greene for the three count.

There was a huge pop when MJF won the championship, I think part excitement and part disbelief.  I myself was rooting for Anthony Greene to pick up the win.  In my opinion he has been the true ace of Limitless Wrestling over the years.  Post match Ashley Vox came out challenging MJF who accepted, I'm guessing for the next show.

Limitless Wrestling returns to Westbrook on Friday, May 11th, featuring the return of "All Ego" Ethan Page.  Tickets on sale Monday March 18th at 7pm.

Limitless Wrestling No Control Results

Last Friday, November 30th, I made the drive south to Portland for the final Limitless Wrestling card of 2018 at the Portland Club.  I met Mikey, Roy, Phil, and  host of other regulars with a sold out crowd that was itching for a great night of wrestling.  When it comes to the Portland Club I'm not a fan of the parking situation or the lighting when it comes to taking pictures with my phone because they just don't come out well.  However, everything else about the venue is tremendous!

Speaking of photos these fantastic images that you see with this report are courteous of SunnyD Photo, you can find her on Instagram here. Harry Aaron, who typically is the ringside photographer is now doing videography and he brought in Sunny to take over at ringside.  This was her first time and she got some fantastic shots.

Ace Romero pinned Darby Alin with a lariat

Once again Limitless opened big with a hell of a match!  These two have different styles  but they meshed so well.  Darby is so athletic and seems willing to do anything in his matches.  At one point Darby had jumped on onto the top rope while holding onto Romero who viciously pushed him into one of the columns that was wrapped with Christmas lights.

Very hard hitting match that ended with Ace wrecking Darby with a lariat for the pin.

Kevin Blackwood & Harlow O'Hara defeated Doomfly: Eli Everfly & Delilah Doom

Delilah Doom maker her Limitless debut tonight.  Very fast and frenzied match that was fantastic.  Crowd was into this from beginning to end and I know I'm not the only one that wants to see Doomfly back in tag competition here in Limitless.  Finish came when Doom was isolated in the ring and took a couple high impact moves before getting pinned.

Ashley Vox submitted Anthony Greene with the Platinum Hunnies

Hands down match of the night! Sincerely go out of your way to see this match you will not be disappointed.  Greene was dominate most of the match using his size to his advantage.  Vox kept battling back and locking on her finisher wearing Greene down.  The Hunnies interfered several times through out the match until Vox accidentally took them out with a dive after Greene side stepped her.  Vox locked her finisher on for the submission.  I loved this match!  Crowd was into this big time, they were on there feet and the "tap" chant was deafening!

Post match Kris Statlander came out cutting a promo stealing the attention from Vox's victory.

Shooting Gallery: Daniel Garcia & Brandon Thurston defeated Thick Boys: John Silver & Jay Freddie with Puf

Very good tag match, and unlike most it didn't break down into a tornado match.  I really enjoyed watching Thurston and Garcia in the ring with there mat wrestling.  finish came by them pinning Silver with an angleslam lungblower combo

"Dirty Daddy" Chris Dickinson submitted Josh Briggs

I love watching Dickinson in the ring and this match was no different.  Dirty Daddy worked the leg th entire match with some loud has hell kicks.  Briggs continued to show why he's one of the best up and coming big men in wrestling.  Finish came when Dickinson locked in the STF for the surprise submission.

DJ Z pinned Christian Casanova with Stokely Hathaway

DJ Z is replacing the injured Tom Lawlor.  I said this in September and I'm going to reiterate it here, I was never impressed with DJ Z in Impact but these last two shows have made me a fan.  Really good match, highly entertaining.  Ref got bumped and Hathaway threw a gold chain into the ring, Casanova tried to use it but Kevin Blackwood prevented it from happening.  DJ Z got the win pinned Casanova when the ref came to.

Post match a match was for January was set when Hathaway challenged Blackwood and Harlow to a tag match in January against Casanova and Austin Theory, if Blackwood wins he gets his a rematch with Casanova if he loses then he has to get the Dream Team logo tattooed on his arm.

Scramble Match
Puf defeated Brandon Kirk, KTB, Bear Bronson, Brett Domino, & Troy Nelson

As always these scramble matches are friggin awesome!  Puf came out to Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas in Christmas themed gear and had the crowd hopping.  Match opened with everyone beating on Domino after he cut an arrogant (read hilarious) promo.

Eventualy the match broke down to just Brandon Kirk and Bear Bronson in the ring, they both had chairs and sat down in what I thought was going to be them trading shots, instead Kirk got two staple guns and they traded staples to the head.  Bronson then took money from referee Kevin Quinn and stapled money to Kirk's head even forcing Quinn to do it.  Bronson then powerbombed Kirk on two chairs facing each other.

The finish though saw Puf get the pin on Domino and then lead a dance party with Nelson and Bronson.

Kris Statlander pinned Penelope Ford

Good match that was back and forth with Statlander squeaking out a win.  Post match she jumped by Ashley Vox which set up an unsanctioned matched between the two on January 11th.  The Vox vs. Statlander feud has been excellent this year in Limitless and I look forward to the blow off next month.

Maine State Posse: DangerKid, Aiden Agro, & Alexander Lee defeated Travis Huckabee, Green Ant, & Thief Ant

Fun match these six man tags are the best with the lucha rules.  Evidently the storyline is that Huckabee treats the ants like crap?  I wasn't actually clarified so it felt out of place.  Huckabee took the pin for his team.  I'm looking forward to the next trio that comes in against MSP.

LAX:Ortiz & Santana defeated JT Dunn & Brody King with MJF

LAX might just be one of the best tag teams around right now.  Brody King tore it down in the ring tonight.  He moves around in a way a guy his size shouldn't!  Match started slow and really built to crescendo where LAX pinned King for the win.

Post match Ace Romero came out and challenged the Kings, Anthony Greene came out, hugged Dunn but then superkicked him. January 11th's it'll be Take Me Home Tonight vs. The Kings

What a fantastic night of wrestling!  I couldn't have asked for a better distraction for myself after a long week.  Can't wait for January 11th!

Roy's Review: Limitless Wrestling May 11, 2018

Here is my review of Limitless Wrestling's Feed the Need in Portland, Maine at Club Portland on May 11, 2018

All photos are courtesy of Harry Aaron you can view his entire album on his flickr page.

Match 1: Green Ant, Thief Ant and Nytehawk defeated Hermit Crab, Cajun Crawdad and The Whisper

Going in I didn't really expect much from this match but I was very surprised with it. This was a throwback Chikara match. All the guys worked hard and it showed. If Chikara had more matches like this I might actually watch some of their shows.
7/10

Match 2: Brody King defeated Eli Everfly

Brody beat the piss out of Everfly. Everfly did get some really cool high flying spots in but in the end he lost to a sick piledriver.
7.5/10

In Ring: Ace Romero comes out and says he wants to know who his opponent is right now. Anthony Greene comes out. This causes enough of a distraction for Brett Domino to come out and attack Ace Romero, which leads to

Match 3: Ace Romero defeated Brett Domino w/Anthony Greene
Ace squashed him in about a minute.
2/10

In Ring: Anthony Greene says that Brett Domino wasn't Ace's opponent. Then AR Fox comes out.

Match 3: Ace Romero defeated AR Fox

They started the fight in the entryway and beat the hell out of each other for a good 10 minutes. Ace hit a sick pounce on Fox blowing him out of the ring.
7.75/10

Match 4: The Dream Team: Austin Theory & Christian Cassanova w/Stokely Hathaway defeated The Workhorsemen: Anthony Henry & James Drake and The Rascals: Trey Miguel & Myron Reed

Great match with tons of crazy action. I was very impressed with The Rascals and I'm hoping they come back. In the end The Dream Team got, in my opinion, a surprise win.
8/10

Match 5: Ashley Vox defeated Rachel Ellering

This match was ok but it was very clear that Rachel Ellering was on a completely different level than Ashley Vox. She may have even been holding some back. The ending was very quick and unexpected. I didn't see it coming.
6/10

In Ring: Ashley Vox says she has qualified for the Vacationland Cup.

In Ring: The Maine State Posse and Joey Eastman are in the ring for their 5 minutes. Jon Alba was there to kinda be a moderator. Aidan Aggro and Alexander Lee basically tell Joey Eastman to pound sand but Danger Kid teases some dissension among the ranks of MSP. Joey Eastman says that he wants to be the father he can't be to his son to MSP. Danger Kid then slaps Eastman. Eastman then says that he guarantees and MSP victory in July because they will be facing each other in a Triple Threat Match in the Vacationland Cup.

Match 6: Anthony Greene defeated JT Dunn in a Street Fight

Sick match. Very brutal. Anthony Greene got slammed on tacks, took a tombstone on a chair and fell through a table from the top rope but somehow still won. Dunn set up what looked like a chair table and went to slam Greene off the top through it but Brett Domino came out and helped Greene slam Dunn through it instead. Check this out it was really awesome
9/10

In Ring: Ace Romero comes out and tells Anthony Greene that in July they will fight each other in a Steel Cage Match.

Match 7: Darby Allin defeated Zachary Wentz

Crazy fast paced match. I don't understand how these guys weren't blown up. The end was very quick with Allin getting Wentz in a neat trapping pin. I would have like to see this match go another 5 minutes.
8/10

Match 8: Skylar defeated Kimber Lee

Very good match here. The best Skylar match I've ever seen. She has improved a ton in her time away from Limitless Wrestling. They beat the hell out of each other for a good 10-15 minutes until Skylar got a surprise roll up for the win.
8.75/10

Match 9: Ace Austin defeated AJ Gray, Jake Parnell, Tony Deppen, Bolt Brady and Kevin Ku in a 6 Man Scramble

This may have been the best 6 man scramble in Limitless Wrestling history. Fast paced with tons of action. All of the guys impressed especially Kevin Ku. I saw him wrestle his first few matches 4 or 5 years ago and he has improved drastically. With the win it seems that Ace Austin will become a regular.
8/10

Match 10: Free to Think: Jeff Cannonball & Brandon Kirk defeated The Thick Boys: Jon Silver & Jay Freddie

They battled all over ringside for a good 5 minutes before the bell even rang. Once the action got into the ring it settled into a solid tag match. I was surprised to see The Thick Boys lose since they are the top tag team in Limitless Wrestling right now.
7/10

Match 11: Josh Briggs defeated Teddy Hart

Absolutely sick match. How these guys were able to walk afterwards is beyond me. They hit at least a dozen sick, backbreaker type moves. In the end Briggs got the win after a chokeslam backstabber. Check this match out. Its great.
9/10

In Ring: Teddy Hart puts over the fans, Indy wrestling and Josh Briggs.

In Ring: Josh Briggs says he will win the Vacationland Cup.

This show scored an 88 out of 110 for an overall score of 80.00%. This was an awesome show. Especially the street fight and the main event. Those 4 guys gave everything they had. I was also very impressed with Skylar vs. Kimber Lee. This was the best women's match in Limitless Wrestling history. Check this show out you won't be disappointed.
