Live Report: Limitless Wrestling 2/22/2020

For those of you that don't know, two days after this card I had surgery that laid me up longer than anticipated and also left me with some anxiety and depression that I am still battling.  In fact when the renewal notice to register the domain for this blog came up a couple weeks ago I almost didn't renew it.

The blog doesn't get tons of traffic, I don't monetize it, this is just for fun.  I started this because I was working midnight shift and I could work on this while at work between calls and it helped me get through the night.  Now I'm on day shift and I find that I just don't have time.  But I love professional wrestling with all my heart, and I love sharing that with others.

So if you've read a post on here, shared it with someone, or left a comment, thank you.  Thankfully my good pal Brandon has posted a few things keeping the blog alive.

Limitless Wrestling returned to the Amvets Post 2 in Yarmouth, Maine for Practice What You Preach!

Once again the venue was sold out, something that I see Limitless Wrestling continuing to do after we get through this pandemic.  I attended with my cousin Paul, Mikey, Roy, Carolyn and we met many other friends and wrestling associates there.

You'll have to forgive me as this show was a month ago so my memory may be a bit off.

Christian Casanova vs. Myron Reed

Outstanding match to open the show, better than their first encounter a couple months back.  The fans were solidly behind Casanova as he continues to climb towards that one on one contest for the Limitless Wrestling championship.  Casanova got the pin with dirty diana.

MSP Invitational
Maine State Posse: Danger Kid & Aiden Aggro vs. Demorest & Oswald Project vs. "Smart" Mark Sterling & VSK vs. Kevin Blackwood

Blackwood couldn't find a partner so he went at it on his own, which would ultimately prove to be his downfall.  My first time seeing Demorest in person after watching him for years.  He's got some wicked cool backyard wrestling videos on the YouTube.  I'll tell you what, he didn't disappoint and I want Randy to bring him back every show. 

This is the best I've seen out of Oswald, truth be told I haven't been a fan of his like others.  However this reluctant tag team of Demorest and Oswald was great, and the double team moves these two did, which was just Demorest using Oswalds body to abuse both Oswald and their opponents were fantastic.

Everyone looked really good in this match but the finish came when Smart Mark stole the pin on Blackwood.

Trevor Murdoch vs. Atticus Cogar

I was so excited to see Murdoch in person, got him to sign a couple cards and got my picture made with him before the show.  He's such a throwback to a 1970's wrestler in the vein of Harley Race and Dick Murdoch.  Sadly I don't think the Limitless faithful appreciated the opportunity to see him in person.

I was also very happy to see Cogar in person, he has such a cool entrance with that face mask.  I wasn't sure how these two would mesh, but it went well.  One of my favorite parts of the match was when they were on the floor near us and Murdoch said "I told you if your gonna hit me then fuckin' hit me" before leveling Cogar.  I told you, old school.

Murdoch pinned Cogar with a flying bulldog.  I really want both guys to come back.  More importantly though I want to see Murdoch vs. JD Drake in person!

Daniel Garcia vs. Ashley Vox

Great match!  The crowd loves Ashley and hates Garcia.  Garcia really beat the crap out of Vox through out the match, hard slams on the floor, tying her in knots in the ring.

Ashley fought back through and sunk in her fish hook finisher, but Garcia rolled through some how and rolled her up for the pin.

Kris Statlander vs. Jody Threat

Two of my favorite ladies on the indies mixed it up for the second night in a row, but the first time in Limitless. This was a really fun match and I really enjoyed it.  Kris Stat picked up the win, pinning Threat.

Post match Statlander challenges the winner of the main even to a title match at the next show.

Independent Wrestling Champion: Warhorse vs. Rip Bison

I recall first seeing Rip as Tomahawk, who I enjoyed, but Rip Bison is somehow tremendously better.  This was a hard hitting competitive match but in the end Warhorse retained his championship extending his reign.  

JT Dunn & Alex Hammerstone vs. Josh Briggs & CJ Cruz

Hammerstone is huge!  Dunn is very hated by the fans, especially after what he did to Rich at the last show.  Briggs and Cruz worked together well at times, but it seemed like Briggs just wanted Cruz to stay in the corner and let him to all the work.

Cruz went for his Best Dropkick Ever but Dunn sidestepped him hitting him with death by elbow for the pin and the win for his team.

Post Match: Briggs walks out leaving Cruz on his own blaming him for the loss.  Brian Fury saved CJ Cruz from a continued beat down by Dunn & Hammerstone.  Fury challenges Dunn to a match at the next show.

Jake Something vs. "The Prize" Alec Price

I'm a huge fan of Price!  Once again he put on a very entertaining match with an opponent that is much larger than him.  

It looked for a moment that Price might get the win but Something hit the bossman slam for the three count.

Limitless Wrestling World Champion: Retro AG vs. "Dirty Daddy" Chris Dickinson

The Dirty Daddy jump started this match when he nailed AG with a missile dropkick during his entrance.  It looked like Dickinson was going to win the Championship but AG reversed a lateral press into one of his own for a quick three count. 

Post match Dickinson hits AG with the Pazuzu Bomb and Kris Stat cut a promo on AG about challenging him next month. 

Several matches were set up for the what was supposed to be the next show on March 21st, however a few days before it was cancelled.  The next Limitless show is scheduled for April 18th, and sadly I'm guessing that, that show will be cancelled as well.  Schools here in Maine are closed until April 27th.  I would say at the earliest the next show would be sometime in May.  Hopefully.

Limitless Wrestling No Control Results

Last Friday, November 30th, I made the drive south to Portland for the final Limitless Wrestling card of 2018 at the Portland Club.  I met Mikey, Roy, Phil, and  host of other regulars with a sold out crowd that was itching for a great night of wrestling.  When it comes to the Portland Club I'm not a fan of the parking situation or the lighting when it comes to taking pictures with my phone because they just don't come out well.  However, everything else about the venue is tremendous!

Harry Aaron, who typically is the ringside photographer is now doing videography and he brought in Sunny to take over at ringside.  This was her first time and she got some fantastic shots.

Ace Romero pinned Darby Alin with a lariat

Once again Limitless opened big with a hell of a match!  These two have different styles  but they meshed so well.  Darby is so athletic and seems willing to do anything in his matches.  At one point Darby had jumped on onto the top rope while holding onto Romero who viciously pushed him into one of the columns that was wrapped with Christmas lights.

Very hard hitting match that ended with Ace wrecking Darby with a lariat for the pin.

Kevin Blackwood & Harlow O'Hara defeated Doomfly: Eli Everfly & Delilah Doom

Delilah Doom maker her Limitless debut tonight.  Very fast and frenzied match that was fantastic.  Crowd was into this from beginning to end and I know I'm not the only one that wants to see Doomfly back in tag competition here in Limitless.  Finish came when Doom was isolated in the ring and took a couple high impact moves before getting pinned.

Ashley Vox submitted Anthony Greene with the Platinum Hunnies

Hands down match of the night! Sincerely go out of your way to see this match you will not be disappointed.  Greene was dominate most of the match using his size to his advantage.  Vox kept battling back and locking on her finisher wearing Greene down.  The Hunnies interfered several times through out the match until Vox accidentally took them out with a dive after Greene side stepped her.  Vox locked her finisher on for the submission.  I loved this match!  Crowd was into this big time, they were on there feet and the "tap" chant was deafening!

Post match Kris Statlander came out cutting a promo stealing the attention from Vox's victory.

Shooting Gallery: Daniel Garcia & Brandon Thurston defeated Thick Boys: John Silver & Jay Freddie with Puf

Very good tag match, and unlike most it didn't break down into a tornado match.  I really enjoyed watching Thurston and Garcia in the ring with there mat wrestling.  finish came by them pinning Silver with an angleslam lungblower combo

"Dirty Daddy" Chris Dickinson submitted Josh Briggs

I love watching Dickinson in the ring and this match was no different.  Dirty Daddy worked the leg th entire match with some loud has hell kicks.  Briggs continued to show why he's one of the best up and coming big men in wrestling.  Finish came when Dickinson locked in the STF for the surprise submission.

DJ Z pinned Christian Casanova with Stokely Hathaway

DJ Z is replacing the injured Tom Lawlor.  I said this in September and I'm going to reiterate it here, I was never impressed with DJ Z in Impact but these last two shows have made me a fan.  Really good match, highly entertaining.  Ref got bumped and Hathaway threw a gold chain into the ring, Casanova tried to use it but Kevin Blackwood prevented it from happening.  DJ Z got the win pinned Casanova when the ref came to.

Post match a match was for January was set when Hathaway challenged Blackwood and Harlow to a tag match in January against Casanova and Austin Theory, if Blackwood wins he gets his a rematch with Casanova if he loses then he has to get the Dream Team logo tattooed on his arm.

Scramble Match
Puf defeated Brandon Kirk, KTB, Bear Bronson, Brett Domino, & Troy Nelson

As always these scramble matches are friggin awesome!  Puf came out to Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas in Christmas themed gear and had the crowd hopping.  Match opened with everyone beating on Domino after he cut an arrogant (read hilarious) promo.

Eventualy the match broke down to just Brandon Kirk and Bear Bronson in the ring, they both had chairs and sat down in what I thought was going to be them trading shots, instead Kirk got two staple guns and they traded staples to the head.  Bronson then took money from referee Kevin Quinn and stapled money to Kirk's head even forcing Quinn to do it.  Bronson then powerbombed Kirk on two chairs facing each other.

The finish though saw Puf get the pin on Domino and then lead a dance party with Nelson and Bronson.

Kris Statlander pinned Penelope Ford

Good match that was back and forth with Statlander squeaking out a win.  Post match she jumped by Ashley Vox which set up an unsanctioned matched between the two on January 11th.  The Vox vs. Statlander feud has been excellent this year in Limitless and I look forward to the blow off next month.

Maine State Posse: DangerKid, Aiden Agro, & Alexander Lee defeated Travis Huckabee, Green Ant, & Thief Ant

Fun match these six man tags are the best with the lucha rules.  Evidently the storyline is that Huckabee treats the ants like crap?  I wasn't actually clarified so it felt out of place.  Huckabee took the pin for his team.  I'm looking forward to the next trio that comes in against MSP.

LAX:Ortiz & Santana defeated JT Dunn & Brody King with MJF

LAX might just be one of the best tag teams around right now.  Brody King tore it down in the ring tonight.  He moves around in a way a guy his size shouldn't!  Match started slow and really built to crescendo where LAX pinned King for the win.

Post match Ace Romero came out and challenged the Kings, Anthony Greene came out, hugged Dunn but then superkicked him. January 11th's it'll be Take Me Home Tonight vs. The Kings

What a fantastic night of wrestling!  I couldn't have asked for a better distraction for myself after a long week.  Can't wait for January 11th!

Signed Trading Cards: Maine State Posse, Chris Dickinson, Stokely Hathaway, & More

On this post we take a look at some of the cards I got signed in person at Limitless Wrestling's 3rd Anniversary show Pretenders Beware on September 21, 2018 in Westbrook, Maine.  You can read my live report about the show here.

All of these cards are part of the Limitless Wrestling Trading cards set released in 2018. The cards were made by Todd Graham of Proving Ground Brand where you to can get your own custom trading cards made.  Following the link above of catch him on Facebook.

Maine State Posse
Alexander Lee, Danger Kid, & Aiden Aggro are three man team that make up the Maine State Posse, these are their individual cards, I think there is a single card in this set of the three of them.

Chris Dickinson
This is the second card of his that I have signed.  The other is part of the UK Resurrection set.

Ashley Vox
One half of the sister tag team The Sea Stars

Stokely Hathaway & Christian Casanova
Hathaway is one of the best, if no the best Manager in wrestling.  The other cards features Hathaway and his charge Christian Casanova.

Limitless Wrestling 1/19/2018 "The World Is Ours" Live Report

On Friday night January the 19th Limitless Wrestling brought their brand of professional wrestling to the Westbrook Armory with "The World Is Ours" and they did not disappoint!  Alex made the drive with me and we met Mikey, Roy, Derek, Bradford, Phil, and many many more compatriots taking in eleven matches, ten on the main card and one YouTube pre-show contest.

Pre-Show

Kalvin Strange & Xavier Bell defeated Mark Sterling & Jaxon Stone

Glad to see Bell back on the card, it was odd not having him on the show in November.  My first time seeing Jaxon Stone and I hope he comes back I'd like to see more of him.  To me this match highlighted Kalvin Strange a native Mainer making his Limitless debut.  He trained with Lance Storm and I've seen him on a few IWE shows in hte past.  This was his best outing and I was surprised to see him get the submission victor on Stone for his team.  Sterling took a couple nasty bumps on his neck I hope he's okay.

Main Show

Darby Allen pinned Jeff Cobb

Second show in a row for Allen, Cobb's first in quite a while.  Cobb is a big powerhouse and Allen is so fast flying around the ring and yet their styles meshed tremendously.  Allen got the surprise, dare I say upset win with a unique pinning combination.  He stepped through like he was going to go for a sharpshooter but them fell forward tying up Cobb's legs and using his own body weight against him.  Three count came out of nowhere for a big pop and shocking finish.

Triple Threat Match: Martin Stone defeated David Starr and Fred Yehi

This was Stone's and Yehi's debuts with the returning Starr rounding out this Triple Threat Match.  In his 15th year Stone might be better known from NXT and the WWE UK Tournament as Danny Burch.  All three of these guys are fantastic mat based wrestlers that have some high flying in there repertoire.

This is the first time I have ever seen and three way Greco-Roman knuckle lock and it was tremendous.  It was unique seeing three guys applying and reverse mat based holds and submissions with such ease.  Stone submitted Yehi and per the stipulation of the match he gets to chose his opponent on March 30th.  I'm hoping Zack Sabre Jr, after their match at Beyond this is one I want to see in person.

Allie Kat, Kris Stadtlander, & Ashley Vox defeated The Maine State Posse: Danger Kid, Alexander Lee, & Aidan Aggro

Limitless keeps bringing new female talent and I hope it continues.  This match was very entertaining and gave us some great comedy and great action.  My first time seeing Allie Kat and Stadtlander and I hope it's not the last.

It really seemed to me like the Posse was holding back in this match but the ladies sure as hell weren't.  Both Allie Kat and Stadtlander connected with some sick kicks including Stadtlander's scissor kick.  Allie Kat got the pin on Danger Kid after a sick looking piledriver.

In March Limitless should bring back Allie Kat & Stadtlander to team up against Willow Nightingale & Skylar.

In Ring: Joey Eastman came out offering his services to the Posse and if they are not interested as a team then maybe just one of them would be.  After much deliberation Danger Kid accepted Eastman's offer and left the ring with him leaving Aggro and Alexander in disbelief.

Whiskey Dick: "Top Shelf" Troy Nelson & Dick Justice defeated Brett Domino & DL Hurst

I'm not a Dick Justice fan, I am a Troy Nelson fan.  Brett Domino is an asshole and I love it.  His facial expressions and over the top behavior is excellent, I look forward to seeing more.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman submitted Matt Cross

Another impressive showing by MJF who is my favorite heel on the independents.  For me I wasn't very impressed with Matt Cross vs. Petey Williams last November in Portland.  Tonight I got to see the Matt Cross that I was expecting last time.  MJF got the surprise submission victory after Cross missed a 450 splash.

In Ring: Stokely Hathaway came out inviting MJF to join the Dream Team.  MJF seemingly accepted but then Darby Allen came out and attempted a dive from the top rope onto MJF who pushed Hathaway into the oncoming Allen saving himself.  Not sure if Hathaway rescinded his offer or not.

Tessa Blanchard pinned Deonna Purrazzo

A truly fantastic match!  We got a little bit of everything, mat wrestling, submissions, high flying, and I finally got to see Tessa win a match in person!  Talking with her before the show she said she was done with Stardom for now, she felt she had gone as far as they were going to push her.  She'd love to go back to Japan but she was plenty busy at the moment.  I hope she finds time to comeback to Limitless and this time not take a year to do so.

"Dirty Daddy" Chris Dickinson pinned Eddie Kingston

I was not disappointed with this match, but it was not the match I was expecting.  The promo that Dickinson cut in November was so scathing that I figured these guys would jump start the bell and just start throwing hands.  Instead it was a feeling out process that eventually lead to some stiff back and forth blows.  Eventually Dickinson landed the pazuzu bomb for the three count.

"All Ego" Ethan Page and The Thick Boys: Jay Freddie & John Silver defeated The Dream Team: Mr. Grimm, Christian Casanova, & Austin Theory with Stokley Hathaway

A good match but the big story coming out of this was near the end of the match the bottom rope broke.  They finish came when the Thick Boys nailed their finish on Casanova for the double pin.  I will continue to point out that this is an illegal pin and the referee should not count the fall.

Massage NV: Dorian Graves & VSK defeated The Work Horsemen: "New Age Enforcer" James Drake & Anthony Henry

This was my favorite match of the night!  We got some fantastic tag team wrestling from two teams and not guys thrown together.  Limitless had brought Henry and Drake in before but this was the first time as a tag team.

Even with the bottom rope missing these two teams delivered.  Sincerely you need to watch this match when you have the chance.  Limitless Wrestling needs more of the Work Horsemen.

Fatal Four Way: Anthony Greene defeated Ace Romero, JT Dunn, & Josh Briggs

The match that was billed to discover the Ace of Limitless Wrestling.  This match was exactly what you would expect from these four.  It quickly spilled to the floor with all four working their way to the back of the venue where Dunn jumped off the top of the lockers onto the other three.

The four then battled back towards the ring past the merchandise tables where among all the chaos Jeff Cobb calmly sat eating his dinner unfazed by everything going on around him.  It was hilarious.  Greene eventually made his may back to the ring throwing eight steel chairs in a pile in the center.  His intention was to splash a prone JT Dunn from the top rope, however Dunn superplexed them both onto the debris it was pretty sick!

The finish came when everyone hit there finishers and Greene rolled up Dunn for the three count with a handful of trunks to win the match officially becoming the Ace of Limitless Wrestling.  However this was over shadowed by what came next.

In Ring: Teddy Hart made his surprise return to the pop of the night.  He cut a promo on Briggs, Romero, & Dunn challenging them to a six man tag team match on March 30th with his partners AR Fox and Sami Callihan!

There was some changes to the show tonight that I really liked a lot.  The doors opened on time, the pre-show and main show started as advertised.  The quickly started the next match after the previous one finished.  Intermission did not run excessively long and in the end the show finished up at just about 11pm.

I applaud the final two matches where the wrestlers didn't seem to let the fact there was no bottom rope stop them from doing their best in the ring.  The only thing missing from the show was the staple six way scramble match.

Limitless returns March 30th and when tickets go on sale February 5th I can't throw my money at them fast enough!  Already advertised:
