Limitless Dojo Student Showcase June 25, 2021

For the fifth time in as many months Mikey and I headed North for the Limitless Wrestling Dojo Student Showcase!

We had dinner at our usual spot and then hit up Target for Mikey's figure hunt before heading to the venue.  I brought my book to sell, I didn't think I'd sell that many tonight and I didn't.  I fell like tomorrow will be a good sales night.  

This show featured the debuts of several wrestlers at a Dojo Show; Alex Chamberlain, Nico Silva, The Haven: Jay Onyz & Shawn Knyte and Delmi Exo.  As well as many returning wrestlers, Alexander Lee, Mac Daniels, Jessie Nolan, Rip Byson and other.  However absent from the card was Ace Romero and MSP.  I believe they were all working the Chaotic show this night in Massachusetts.  

Let's get to the matches:

"The Natural" Channing Thomas vs. Kylon King

Excellent opening match that really got the crowd up.  My first time seeing Kylon King in person and I was thoroughly impressed!  This venue has lowing ceilings, and yet King managed to put on a high flying match and not hit the ceiling.  Thomas picked up the win with a Texas Clover Leaf.

Delmi Exo vs. Jessie Nolan

Both wrestlers worked hard and put up a good fight.  Delmi maintained the advantage though and got the win with a referee stoppage when Nolan passed out from a crossface.

"The Prize" Alec Price with Howitson Davis III vs. Nico Silva

Fantastic match!  Alec is so damn good in the ring and continues to improve and impress.  I haven't seen Silva in a long time in person, but he was on his game tonight.  I popped big time for his smooth as hell chaos theory suplex!  It was a thing of beauty!  Howitson got on the apron for the distraction, however ate a superkick from Price for his actions, much to the delight of the crowd.  All the same Price got the pin with his finish.  Again, fantastic match!

Anything Goes: Alexander Lee vs. "Big Cat" Tyler Adams

I know was going to the bring the fight and the viciousness in this match and to his credit Big Cat was game.  We saw chairs, doors, trash cans, thumbtacks, staple guns, barbed wire and more.  Cat stapled a ticket to Lee's tongue, Lee hit Cat with a thumbtack plastic baseball bat, Cat bent a trash can on Lee's body!  It was a mutual assault.  Lee donned his barbed wire crown and headbutted Cat through a barbed wire door for the 3 count busting open Cat's face.
Post match Lee cut a promo giving Cat credit for stepping into his realm for this match however a unknown person distracted Lee while Dylan Nix snuck in through the back attacking Lee and DVD'ing him through a door. 

The Competition: Champ Mathews & Connor Murphy vs. The Haven: Jay Onyx & Shawn Knyte

Great tag team match!  My first time seeing The Haven and they looked good.  The Competition used their experience to maintain control of the younger team.  Corner Chaos ended Haven's bid that night with Murphy getting the pin for his team. 

In Ring: Eric Johnson cut a promo on Limitless stating that he was 22-0 and yet hasn't gotten a title match, he challenged Ace Romero to come out, who he knew wasn't in the building.  Dave Dyer came out to Ace's music mocking the Acey Baby.  Johnny Miyagi took the mic and said that Dyer had a match brining out Jason Maverick.

Jason Maverick vs. "Belfast Bulldog" Dave Dyer

Rather quick match, Maverick got the school boy pin after a distraction by Johnson backfired.  Post match Miyagi got on the mic and said he had an opponent for Johnson too.  

Eric Johnson vs. "Iron" Rip Byson

Byson charged the ring to a huge ovation! He laid out Dyer with two huge chokeslams to the crowds uproarious approval.  Before the bell, they brawled on the floor for a few minutes with Byson whipping Johnson with his leather strap before the both got in the ring and the referee called for the bell.  Hard hitting match with both men laying in the shots on each other.  The ref was knocked down and Dyer tired to attack Byson with the crowbar, but Byson starred him down taking the crowbar and laying out Johnson with it.  Referee Eric Greenleaf saw the weapon being used and called for the bell disqualifying Ripper.

"Main Attraction" Mac Daniels vs. Alex Chamberlain

Very solid match, opened up with some good chain wrestling.  Chamberlain held the advantage for most of the match but the finish came with Daniels used a foreign object on Chamberlain and then rolled him up for the pin.

Post match Chamberlain gave Daniels credit for getting the win at any cost and offered him a handshake.  Daniels accepted and Chamberlain laid him out!

My hats off to Greenleaf once again for officiating every match on the card.  There was no return date announced.

Signed Cards: Dale Torborg, William Perry, & Dean Malenko

In this post we look at more through the mail success from this year.

Dale Torborg

The card on the left is a baseball card the Fleer 2004 Kingsport Mets.  Based in Kingsport, Tennessee they were part of the Appalachian League and were the Minor League Rookie ball team for the New York Mets.  Torborg played pro baseball for one season before injury took him out of the sport.  The card on the right is from 2000 WCW Magazine set.  Torborg wrestled from 1995 - 2001 for WCW this is his only wrestling card.  I mailed these on March 11, 2021 and got them back on April 23rd. 

William "The Refrigerator" Perry

The card on the left is rom the Topps 1987 NFL card set, the card on the right is from the 1985 O-Pee-Chee WWF Series II card set.  I mailed these on April 27, 2020 and got them back on May 5, 2021.  Yes it took just over a year.  

Dean Malenko

The first card is from the 1998 Topps WCW card set, the middle from the 2001 Fleer WWF WrestleMania set, and the third is from the 2019 Starrcast II card set.  I mailed these to AEW on February 26, 2021 and got them back on March 18th.

Limitless Dojo Student Showcase May 28, 2021

After a long week at work it was nice on Friday to meet up with Mikey and head north for the 4th consecutive month to attend the Limitless Dojo Showcase. 

Once again we had a Chick-Fil-A drive in dinner, this place always does a fantastic job getting the long line through the drive thru quickly and effectively.  After dinner we checked out both Wal-Mart and Target for Mikey's figure hunt with nothing found.  Earlier in the day before we met up, Mikey stopped at the Target in Augusta where he located the Lawler and Volkoff figures.

We got into the show early because for the first time I was selling my book, "Limitless Wrestling: The First Five Years" in person at a show.  I sold 12 copies of the Black and White and the Five copies of the color that I brought.  

Honestly I am completely humbled that I sold that many and how well received the book as been.  I worked very hard on it for over a year and it's appreciated whenever anyone comments that they like my work.  I'm taking all the proceeds from tonight to replenish my supply for Limitless return in Yarmouth.

Tonight was the biggest crowd for a Dojo show because the indoor capacity and mask mandate was lifted effective May 24th.  Mikey and I sat front row off on the side away from everyone, which we felt more comfortable with.

It was great night of wrestling but before we get to the matches, let take a moment to recognize referee Eric Greenleaf who officiated every match on the card.  Not just tonight but at every Student Showcase. 

Ace Romero vs “Belfast Bulldog” Dave Dyer

Ace dominated the opening of the match punishing Dyer for costing him the match against Eric Johnson at last months show. Dyer made a comeback, but in the end Ace came out top getting the pin after a massive lariat. Post match Romero challenged that "Jivin' Jimmy Motherfucker" to a come out, however Alec Price made his entrance for his match.

“The Prize” Alec Price with Howitson Davis III vs Myung Jae Lee

An outstanding contest between Price and the debuting Lee. Myung Jae and few other tonight are from the Grapplers Anonymous school in Buffalo, New York where Limitless Champion Daniel Garcia trains. I was thorough impressed Lee and would love to see him come back.

This just might have been the match of the night, along with the Main Event. Lots high impact offense from both guys, with Lee almost getting the win on several occasions, however the Prize City OG got the pin after his busta kick.

Vinnie Moon vs “The Dyad” Sebastian Braun

Both students from Grapplers Anonymous, they had an excellent match with both shinning at times. I could see them both coming back in the future for more Dojo or Let's Wrestle cards. Moon reminded a bit of Curt Stallion. Moon got the pin after a uranage variation.

Adam Booker vs Jeremiah Richter with Howitson Davis III

Booker wanted Price but HD3 brought out his new charge, from Grapplers Anonymous Jeremiah Richter. Richter is a big guy, he's still finding his feet and how to take advantage of his 6 foot 6 advantage. On this night though the veteran Adam Booker go the submission victory with the Texas clover leaf.

Brian Milonas vs “Main Attraction” Mac Daniels

Milonas, the ROH star making having his first match in Maine since November 2018 at the ROH/New Japan show in Lewiston. This was his first match in front of a crowd of any size since February 2020. Milonas dominated the opening of the match until Daniels chop blocked his leg taking the big man off his feet and working him over for a while. Milonas battled back and got the pin after and earthquake splash.

Alexander Lee & “Dweller of the Depths” Dylan Nix vs “Big Cat” Tyler Adams and Konnor Hex

Lee's feud with Adams continued for the third straight show, this time a tag team affair with Dylan Nix and Konnor Hex joining the fray.  Adams wanted to get his hands on Lee from the get go, but Lee tagged Nix in denying Adams his chance.  Eventually the two did square off and when the referee's back was turned Lee got into his Magic Murder Box, wrapping a chainsaw blade around his fist striking Adams in the face scoring the three count. 

Eric Johnson with Dave Dyer vs Perry Von Vicious

Johnson was originally slated to wrestle Malik Logan tonight, who was unable to attend the show. Johnson assumed he was going to have the night off, however Let's Wrestle GM Johnny Torres advised him that an opponent had indeed signed to fight Johnson.

Perry Von Vicious made his way to the ring. Johnson had Dyer at ringside constantly attacking Perry while Johnson distracted the referee. Johnson got the pin after a tiger driver. Ace ran out into the ring and wild pull apart brawl erupted leading to the locker room clearing to separate the two.

Kirby Whackerman vs Jessie Nolan

Whackerman seemed to take all of Nolan's offense like it was joke, even when it was effective and hurt him.  This frustrated Nolan who, after hitting eat da feet and a spear and Whackerman kicked out, was screaming at referee Eric Greenleaf in the corner when she was rolled up for the three count.  

MSP: Aiden Aggro & DangerKid vs The Competition: Champ Mathews & Connor Murphy

Excellent match between two of Maine's all time top tag teams. I would love to see this without the roof height restrictions. Both teams dominated at times during the match, both teams are very polished and have very effective double team maneuvers. Personally I was rooting for The Competition to get the win, but MSP hit their finish on Murphy picking up the win.

This was the fourth match between the teams, with MSP have a 3 - 1 lead. I feel this feud is a long way from being over

It was a great night of wrestling and it's always fun to go to the matches.  A return date for the Limitless Dojo Student Showcase was not announced.  However earlier in the day It was announced that Limitless would be returning to the AMVets in Yarmouth, Maine on June 26th, the entire card will be a mystery.  I cannot for this show!
